چکیده

Methods: We performed a prospective cohort study of 40 consecutive arthroscopies for femoroacetabular impingement. Patient demographics and procedures performed (ie, acetabuloplasty and its size, femoral osteoplasty, and psoas tenotomy) were recorded. The extravasated volume was estimated by the difference between the infused volume and the intraoperatively collected volume. Within 12 hours after the procedure, the pelvis was scanned by CT. We created a 3-stage radiological classification based on progressive involvement of anatomical structures attributed to liquid extravasation. Statistical analyses were performed with a 95% CI and a significance level of 5%.

Intrathoracic fluid extravasation after hip arthroscopy.

The case of intrathoracic extravasation of irrigation fluid after hip arthroscopy in a 21-year-old woman is presented. In this patient intraperitoneal and retroperitoneal fluid collection developed, as seen in other case reports documenting irrigation fluid extravasation during hip arthroscopy. The patient presented to the emergency department on the first postoperative day complaining of short...

Abdominal compartment syndrome after hip arthroscopy.

As hip arthroscopy becomes a more common procedure, more complications may occur. We present a case of abdominal compartment syndrome resulting from fluid extravasation in a 42-year-old man who underwent routine hip arthroscopy for femoral acetabular impingement. He had not had previous surgeries to that hip, and arthroscopy was performed in the supine position. After adequate distraction, arth...

Iliopsoas Bursa-Hip Capsule Connection Leading to Intra-abdominal Fluid Extravasation.

Intra-abdominal fluid extravasation is a rare complication of hip arthroscopy, with a reported incidence of 0.16%. Associated risk factors include recent acetabular fracture, extra-articular procedures, iliopsoas tenotomy, and high fluid pump pressure. These previously reported risk factors were not present in the 48-year-old woman reported in this article. The patient elected to undergo hip ar...

Intra-abdominal fluid extravasation during hip arthroscopy: a survey of the MAHORN group.

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to survey experts in the field of hip arthroscopy from the Multicenter Arthroscopy of the Hip Outcomes Research Network (MAHORN) group to determine the frequency of symptomatic intra-abdominal fluid extravasation (IAFE) after arthroscopic hip procedures, identify potential risk factors, and develop preventative measures and treatment strategies in the event...

Intra-abdominal fluid after hip arthroscopy: a case report.

The use of hip arthroscopy for diagnostic and therapeutic reasons has been steadily increasing over the last decade. It is considered a safe procedure, but some complications may be potentially life threatening. We present a case of intra-abdominal accumulation of irrigation fluid during hip arthroscopy in a 26-year-old patient. A literature review revealed only six other cases of fluid extrava...

Hip arthroscopy for the management of trauma: a literature review.

The first descriptions of the use of hip arthroscopy for traumatic injuries were presented in 1980. One paper described arthroscopy for the removal of a bullet fragment while others reported using hip arthroscopy to remove fragments following total hip arthroplasty. With the application of traction and modification of arthroscopic instruments, hip arthroscopy has become a useful tool in treatin...
